New Orleans: dozens injured after pickup truck ploughs into parade crowd

Vehicle driven by a man suspected to be ‘highly intoxicated’ drove into a crowd watching the Endymion parade in the Mid-City neighbourhood

At least 28 people, including a young child, were injured when a vehicle ploughed into a crowd watching the Krewe of Endymion parade in the Mid-City section of New Orleans.

The Times-Picayune said the crash was reported at about 6:45pm on Saturday as the city prepared for the Mardi Gras celebrations.

Kim Jong-nam killed by VX nerve agent, say Malaysian police

Kuala Lumpur airport terminal to be decontaminated after deadly attack on North Korean leader’s half-brother

Kim Jong-nam was killed using the highly toxic liquid nerve agent VX, Malaysian police have said.

One of the two women suspected of involvement in the poisoning vomited in police custody and was also suffering the effects of VX, which is only used in chemical warfare, the inspector general, Khalid Abu Bakar, said.

Geert Wilders suspends election campaign over alleged security leak

Dutch far-right leader stops campaigning in public for March polls after reports that member of his security team was arrested

The Dutch anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders and his populist Freedom party have suspended all public campaigning for next month’s parliamentary elections following an alleged security leak.

“Very alarming news. The PVV is suspending its public activities until all facts in connection with the corruption investigation are known,” Wilders, the frontrunner in the 15 March election, said on Twitter.

Malaysian authorities seek to question senior North Korean diplomat and man connected with Air Koryo, while dismissing claims that assassins were duped

Malaysian police investigating the murder of Kim Jong-nam say attempts were made to break into the morgue where his body is being held and have demanded to question a senior North Korean diplomat.

The announcements by police chief Khalid Abu Bakar throw further suspicion on Pyongyang over the apparent assassination of the exiled half-brother of the North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-un.
